Cách dùng

• Diễn tả hành động đã xảy ra và kết thúc trong quá khứ:
  • Ví dụ: She visited her friend last week.
• Miêu tả thói quen, sự thật hoặc trạng thái trong quá khứ:
  • Ví dụ: When I was a child, I smoked every day.
• Kể chuyện hoặc tường thuật sự việc:
  • Ví dụ: Yesterday, it rained, and we stayed at home.

Cách dùng thì quá khứ đơn

Dấu hiệu nhận biết

• Trạng từ chỉ thời gian cụ thể trong quá khứ:
  • Yesterday (hôm qua)
  • Last + … (trước…)
  • In + thời gian trong quá khứ
  • Ago (cách đây)
• Cụm từ chỉ thời gian rõ ràng:
  • Ví dụ: When I was … (Khi tôi …)
